June 16th, 2017 Moosomin Lake to International Peace Garden

June 16th, 2017 Moosomin Lake to International Peace Garden
We camped at Moosomin Provincial Park and the next morning crossed into Manitoba, continuing east for awhile. At Brandon we saw a sign for the International Peace Garden and decided to visit. The Garden straddles the 49th parallel between Manitoba and North Dakota.  Within the garden visitors wander freely between the two countries. We learned they have a campground so we decided to spend the night after wandering the garden during the day.
Our rv nested in the trees at Moosomin Park.  Very quite night.
A few sites down from us was a family of four in a rv that was made from a converted school bus.
Moosomin LAke,
Driving out of the park we saw this huge house all by itself in the middle of a field.
The Dove Fountain at the Peace Garden.
Elaine strolling the gardens.
Gardens with hothouse in the background.
Interesting cactus in the hothouse.
The name of that cactus.

Interesting arrangement.
Gazing across the gardens.
At the end of the mall there is a chapel with famous quotations carved in marble surrounding the inside of the chapel.  I posted a few of our favorites here.

Elaine standing on the 49th parallel with one foot in the US and the other foot in Canada. The Peace Chapel is in the background.
Along the mall they added a memorial to 9-11
A good quote at the 9-11 memorial from Martin Luther King Jr.  It was truly a peaceful day.
