May 8th, Monday : US Air Force Museum Dayton OH

May 8th, Monday : US Air Force Museum Dayton OH
More planes than the Air and Space Museum!
Drove to Dayton Ohio: John Bryan State Park.  Pretty rainy and dreary drive. Striving to drive out of the gloomy weather. We wanted to see if a museum with Wright Brothers stuff  so we chose the US Air Force Museum which is gynormous.  Four hugh hangers of planes.  Literally hundreds from the Wright Brothers all the way up to the Stealth Bomber.  I think the one thing that struck me was the amount of technology in air power dedicated to war.

Front Entrance to the Air Force Museum
Walking in from the parking lot.
 Wright Bothers wind tunnel
Another wind tunnel.  Did I mention that I love wind tunnels?
The original Wankel rotary engine:  the Wright rotary engine
The plane that dropped the bomb on Nagasaki.
A replica of the Nagasaki bomb.
A replica of the Hiroshima bomb.
Some connection to Worcester: Robert Goddard exhibit.
The Air force museum was huge and interesting and at the same time depressing as to the amount of weaponry on display. But a worth while visit.  On to warmer weather and Springfield Illinois.
