June 11th, 2017 Kootenai River to Glacier National Park West

June 11th, 2017 Kootenai River to Glacier National Park West
We left the Kootenai River Campground and headed east on Route 2 for the western side of Glacier National Park.

Heading out of Kootenai we saw this interesting monument to fishing.

A short distance down rout 2 we came to a visitor pull-off for Kootenai Falls.  We decided to stop and hike into the falls.  It was an impressive show of hydro power as the swollen Kootenai river sluiced over the huge rapids.
They had constructed this impressive rope bridge over the river.

On our way to Glacier we stopped for lunch in Klaispell Mt at the Forge.
The restaurant was a machine repair shop for many years and then converted to a restaurant when the owner closed the repair shop.  He had a blacksmith forge in his shop.  The restaurant kept many of the repair shop items and here is the forge.

The next few pictures are views of the western side of glacier National Park.

This is glacier poking up just above the treetops.
The  Glacier experience is viewing mountaintops poking above the treeline.
